Bach’s Groove is a vibrant tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach, whose writing Jazzconsidered the most rhythmic of all—has inspired countless jazz musicians.

Revisiting familiar works by the master, including Preludes and Fugues and two radiant chorales such as Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Paul Lay has created an original score that also incorporates Oscar Peterson’s remarkable Bach Suite, rarely performed in concert.

Drawing on the precision and sensitivity of Miles Davis (with a nod to Bag’s Groove), Paul Lay crafts richly coloured and contrasting atmospheres, with the innate sense of swing and groove that defines his style.
