Opéra National de Bordeaux

Program

Japanese dancer and choreographer Saburo Teshigawara has been developing a style of minimalist dance that harmonizes with sound for over twenty years. In an interview with his longtime collaborator Rihoko Sato, he admits: “We breathe in the music to allow every part of our body to connect with it.” Set to Bach’s and Bartók’s sonatas for solo violin, the dancers’ bodies arch and twist, either alone or in unison. An ethereal dance that charts a path toward the essential.

As part of the Cadences Festival.
Co-produced by Théâtre Olympia, Arcachon, a state-subsidized theater of national interest and the Opéra National de Bordeaux.
