Waves of Light offers a harmonious fusion of jazz and choral singing, born of the collaboration between Paul Lay, a pianist steeped in African-American tradition, and Joël Suhubiette, who founded the chamber choir Les Éléments in 1997. Accompanied by the Paul Lay Trio (piano, double bass, drums), Les Éléments revisit selected works by Purcell, Bach, and Ligeti, and perform original compositions by Paul Lay inspired by the poetry of Victor Hugo, Emily Dickinson, and Pablo Neruda. The result is a shimmering tapestry of sound filtered through the prism of a unique musical fusion.
