TIME – An Immersive Concert-Performance

After first collaborating on a filmed musical project, Bulgarian percussionist and marimbist Vassilena Serafimova and French photographer-videographer Julien Poulain reunited several years later to bring a long-anticipated creation to life. The concert-performance TIME premiered at Les Dominicains de Haute-Alsace in September 2018.

Blending music and visuals, the audience is transported into a world where references to nature and minimalist graphics merge with a lively, dynamic rhythm. Vassilena Serafimova delves into the work of Steve Reich and the minimalist movement before exploring other American composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Casey Cangelosi, and John Psathas.

TIME offers a unique sensory and emotional experience. The creativity, experimental spirit, and innovative approach of the two artists match their virtuosity and technical mastery, providing a total immersion into a vibrant, multidisciplinary universe. More than a concert, TIME is a performance that transcends conventions and suspends time.
