Nominated for the 2026 Victoires de la Musique Classique, winner of the 2023 Young Soloist Award from the Francophone Public Media, and named a Classic FM Rising Star 2026, Julien Beautemps has established himself as one of the most distinctive artists of his generation. Radio France praises “his musical intelligence, dazzling virtuosity, and mastery.” A laureate of the l’Or du Rhin, Banque Populaire, and Charles Oulmont Foundations, he is also a prizewinner at a dozen international competitions, including the Grand Prix Musical Lauredia and First Prize at the PIF Castelfidardo International Competition.

Born in 2000, Julien Beautemps is a graduate of the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) and the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne. His concert career takes him to major stages and festivals in France and internationally, notably in Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, and Spain. He is regularly invited to perform on France Musique and RTS, as well as at La Folle Journée in Nantes, Tokyo, and Warsaw, the Festival Radio France Montpellier, the Flâneries Musicales de Reims, and the Festival International de Colmar. He performs with Axelle Saint-Cirel, Gautier Capuçon, and Romain Leleu, as well as Éléonore Pancrazi, Lucile Richardot, and François Salque.

A versatile artist, Julien Beautemps also pursues a distinctive approach to arranging and composition that is reshaping the image of the accordion. His debut solo album, Mechanics (2022), already revealed this artistic vision. Described by Radio France as a “brilliant arranger,” he has continued this exploration with Argos – Masterworks (2025, DiscAuvers), created with guitarist Sotiris Athanasiou and featuring Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Ravel’s Boléro, and Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

Julien is also a composer and performs his own music in concert, including works such as Mechanics and his Sonata for the Resurrection, performed in duo with violinist Thomas Briant. These award-winning and critically acclaimed works contribute to the expansion of the repertoire. Centered around his Sonata No. 1 “Inferno” for solo accordion, Julien’s latest album, Symphonics (2026, Oktav Records), also features his arrangement of Mozart’s Requiem.
