Winner of the 2023 Young Soloist Award from the Francophone Public Media, and a laureate of the Banque Populaire, Charles Oulmont, and l’Or du Rhin Foundations, Julien Beautemps is acclaimed for “his musical intelligence, dazzling virtuosity, and mastery” (Radio France). Born in 2000, he completed his studies with an Artist Diploma (DAI) at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), as well as a Soloist Master’s degree at the HEMU in Lausanne.

A prizewinner at a dozen international competitions, including the 2023 Grand Prix Musical Lauredia, First Prize at the 2021 PIF Castelfidardo International Competition, and Third Prize at the 2021 Trophée Mondial de l’Accordéon, Julien is regularly invited to perform abroad, including in Japan, Serbia, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and Spain, as well as on France Musique and RTS. He has appeared at the Festival Radio France Montpellier, La Folle Journée de Nantes, La Folle Journée de Tokyo, Festival Pianoscope, Piano à Riom, Festival de La Vézère, Flâneries Musicales de Reims, and Festival International de Colmar, among others. He has performed with Gautier Capuçon, Philippe Bernold, Éléonore Pancrazi, Romain Leleu, François Salque, and Adèle Charvet. In 2022, Julien released his debut solo album, Mechanics, on the Nügo label.

Described by Radio France as a “brilliant arranger,” he has reimagined Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Ravel’s Boléro, and Mozart’s The Magic Flute with guitarist Sotiris Athanasiou for their album Argos – Masterworks, released in 2025 by DiscAuvers. Julien is also a composer and performs his own music in concert, including works such as Mechanics and his Sonata for the Resurrection, performed in duo with violinist Thomas Briant. These award-winning and critically acclaimed works contribute to expanding the repertoire of the accordion.

For his upcoming album Symphonics, to be released in 2026 on Oktav Records, Julien brings together his arrangements of Mozart’s Requiem and Erwin Schulhoff’s Symphony No. 2 with his Sonata No. 1 “Inferno” for solo accordion.
